Frequently Asked Questions

It is important to get rest on your non-training days. Recovery is as important as your training days. Lifting weights progressively is stressful. Don’t underestimate this. The majority of the time, the best thing that you can do on your days off is sleep more and do something you enjoy. Being in a good state of mind throughout the week is good for the muscles and body. So take a nap, watch that show you’ve been wanting to watch, go see a movie,  read that book that has been sitting on your bedside table, play with your children or hang out with loved ones.

Our body needs approximately 1 g of protein per pound of body weight. It is important that you eat as much whole food protein as possible. However, it is ok to supplement with protein powder as a convenient way to meet your protein intake.  I use a protein shake as a quick and convenient way to get my protein in especially after a workout. You can use any brand of protein powder. We recommend that you choose a product with a simple ingredient list; no artificial sweeteners. Look for a powder that has 25-30 g of protein per scoop with less than 5-6 grams of carbs and fats. I personally use Pure Vita Labs – PVL either IsoSport or IsoGold. This company also has tasty vegan options – plant-pro.

Not all natural products are created equally. For proper absorption the best products are those that are pharmaceutical grade. These may be purchased at any health food store – Healthy Planet, GNC, Popeyes, Whole Foods, www.advancedmedicine.com dispensary or PVL online store which will deliver straight to your home.

Multi-Vitamin  is like an insurance policy making sure your body is getting all the vitamins and minerals it needs – good brands are Natures Factor or New Chapter

Probiotics is for gut health it helps with gas and bloating and also may help with immunity. Renew Life is a great brand.

Magnesium – most women are magnesium deficient – it a supplement That Supports Individuals with Muscle Tenderness And Fatigue. It can help with sleep. Hormone levels, stress and PMS

Vitamin D3 – Produced in response to sunlight hitting your skin, Vitamin D helps keep your immune system in top shape. If you don’t get enough sunlight you will need to take a supplement at least 1000 IUs of Vitamin D3 per day or more. We recommend getting your levels checked at least 1 time per year. I’ve had to go as high as 4000 IUs per day in the winter months.

Fish Oils – fish oils are healthy Omega-3 fats! If you are not eating fish 1-2 times a day you won’t be getting enough Omega-3s so that’s why I suggest that you add an omega-3 supplement. Omega-3’s help the quality of your hair, nails and skin. They ye health, brain health and hormones. NutraSea is a great brand. It’s very high quality and it’s flavoured to avoid the fishy after taste.  Aim for a higher serving close to 500 DHA/750 EPA per serving. NutraSea meets all these requirements
