My life had to change in a dramatic way, but my strength emerged once I made the decision to find a life that would bring me happiness- true happiness that came from inside myself .
It was scary, the fear of that change held me back for years, even when I knew it was what I should do.
Living in fear and sadness was the loneliest time of my life. I had to move my focus from a toxic relationship towards the life I wanted to build for my children and, ultimately, myself.
The first decision I made from within was that I wanted my children to grow up with a happy mom. I found myself caught up in the drama that he had created. I dreamt my whole life of having a family but this was not it.
All I could think of at that time was about my sweet children, and how they deserve a mom who shines with light from within. There was no need to waste years stuck in a toxic and manipulative relationship. My children are a gift in my life and I needed to find my strength for them.
The second huge decision I made was to strengthen my mind, my body, and my soul. It happened over years and always with the intention to better myself. I found a counselor to help with my mind and overcome the pain of the broken marriage. I had to learn to grow into the person I wanted to be.
I started to work on my body by running trails near my new home. Eventually, I joined a gym (post-Covid) and got to work strength training. I was so inspired by a few friends including Nicole Arseneau. They had personal trainers, and looked so strong and healthy. I made my goal to become strong physically. I wanted to be able to keep up with my kids, like these ladies. We all have busy active children. I found peace by going to the gym three times a week- a small but achievable goal at the time.
Once Nicole Arseneau became a personal trainer we started to work together immediately. InnerStrong Personal Training was the inspiration I needed to find my own inner strength through a healthy lifestyle. She was able to teach me how to have a healthy relationship with food and began to push me more in my strength training. I grew with knowledge about my body and how my physical and emotional self were all connected.
All the pieces were coming together. I had a small but mighty group of friends and support systems that helped me grow and find my inner strength. I’m not one to ever ask for help, but it’s amazing what can happen when you do. When I started to seek out people who could help build me up, add to my life, and who were on a similar journey, it was all upwards from there.
I changed my life in a dramatic way and it was not easy. But if you have the right mindset, intention, and goals set for your life you can achieve it. I feel like I have transformed from someone small into a strong, intelligent, and happy mom who truly shines from within.
